My Skincare Routine: Dry Skin

Hey,

So Karen and I decided to give you an insight on our skincare routines. Maybe it's of some use to some of you with dry/ oily combination skin. Today I'll start. First off I'll give you a quick overview of the products I use.

  • Bioderma Make up remover
  • Avène gentle milk cleanser
  • Dr. Hauschka Eyecream
  • La Roche Posay Effaclar A.I. Spottreatment
  • Dermalogica gentle cream exfoliant

My Embryolisse Lait-crème concentré moisturiser ran out, so I had to take a Picture from the interwebs...

So I am going to tell you what I do morning and evening and then I'll go into the products and tell you how I use them.

1. Morning:
After brushing my teeth I cleans my face and apply my moisturiser and eyecream afterwards. All ready prepped I'll then apply my makeup.

2. Evening:
I'll first remove my makeup and then go ahead and cleanse my face. Again, I'll then apply my moisturiser and eyecream. Sometimes if I'm spotty I'll go ahed and dab some of my spottreatment onto my pimples, mostly forehead and chin.

3.1-2 a week I'll exfolite my face using my exfoliating mask.

4. Ocassionally I'll treat myself to a nice mask. Doesn't matter if hydrating or pore refining, just anything to give myself a lovely soft skin and rosy flush.

I find simple masks from the drugstore work just fine.
They're about 0,60 € and you get 2 uses out of them.
Although I really want to get teh Dermalogica hydrating mask.

The Products:

1. Bioderma Créaline H20 Make up remover:
This is seriously the best Make up remover I've ever tried. It removes everybit of make up without stinging in the eyes and I don't need to rub like crazy.
I use this with regular cotton pads. I take one and tear it in half, then I soak it in Bioderma and lay it onto my eyes and let it soak for about a minute...As all the cosmetics consist of waxes and stuff the makeup remover needs time to make the makeup come off.
By letting the makeup remover sit on the eyes you avoid having to rub your eyes and tug on your very thin skin around that area.
Just gently push the pad with you finger and help get off all the resedue.
If you feel like you need to, go ahead and soak a cotton pad and clean your face from any foundation or concealer.

2. Avène Gentle Milk Cleanser
Perfect for sensitive skin and totally non abrasive. This product doe snot break my out or anything. I pump a almond sized amount onto my fingers and start massaging it onto my face. I have not splashed my face with water before, just plain dry skin. After massaging thoroughly I take two dry cotton pads and gently take off the cleanser, eventhough I took off what little makeup I'm wearing everyday, my cotton pads are still always dirty. When I first started cleansing my face this way, I noticed how much dirt actually builds up during the day. ugh..
After removing most of the cleanser with a cotton pad, I then rinse off any resedue with warm water.

3. Dr. Hauschka Eyecream
After moisturising my face I squeeze the smallest amount of crem onto my wedding finger and dab both fingers together. then I gently dab it onto my undereye area and around the crows feet rea, meaning the browbone and outer corner of the eye. As of now I cannot tell a difference after months of use, but I'm young to my philosophy is, if I don't see any difference in a few years time, I did everything right. Plus the cream makes my undereye concealer apply super smoothly.

4. La Roche Posay; Effaclar A.I. Spottreatment
This stuff is a true miracle worker. After I completed my routine I squeeze some of it onto the bakc of my hand and then strat dabbing it onto the areas where I have breakouts. Of course it's not an overnight healer, but what it does is, it slowly dries out the pimples and makes them disappear. After one night of use, there's already a change, after a few nights of use the breakouts should start getting better and eventually get better and go away. I loooove this soo much. It really does do its job. And even after one night only I can already see the breakouts have become smaller.

5. Dermalogica Gentle Cream Exfoliant
My newest addition to my skincare family. After being sick of all the abrasive exfoliant scrubs I wanted to try this, so I got it last week with a voucher I had left from my birthday. It is truly brilliant. I use this about 1-2 times a week, because it is taking of the outer layer of old skin and makes it more sensitiv. Due to that it is recommended to use sun screen after usage.
I apply it to my dry cleansed face and let it set for 10-15 minutes just like a mask and the thouroughly rinse off my face with warm water. The thing with chenical exfoliants is, that you need to let them do their work, meaning let the AHA's and BHA's (tha acids) work their magic and help you get rid of dead skin an clogged pores. Yes there aren't definite results after only one usage, but the skin definitely feels softer and renewed. I'll have to test it for a few weeks to see if it really does what it says...but considering the fact that it is proven that salicylic-acids and lactic-acids and all their friends do help get rid of all those unwanted imperfections and clogged pores, It should do its job. I'll just have to give it some time.

6. Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré
I was looking for a moisturiser that gives my skin the needed hydration but isn't too rich and leaves a greasy layer ontop of my skin. I don't like to wake up a a giant greaseball, plus Sometimes my dry skin gets kind of weird oily throughout my T-zone because of moisturiser build up. Ebryolisse is perfect. It can be applied really softly and not rubbed in too much and leaves the skin nice and smooth but can also be rubbed into the skin more, so that it leaves a more rich feel to the skin. I heard Sam from Pixiwoo rave about it all the time and decided to get it when I was in france for the summer.
I just dot a bit onto my cheeks and forehead and then massage it into my skin with my fingertips.

7. Cotton pads
Not a skincare product but the "tool" I use for most of my routine. Plain old cotton pads from the drugstore....handy and very versatile. Not much to say about them other than they are brilliant and for me a must, when it comes to skincare.

That's it, that's how I (try) and keep my skin nice and clean and take good care of it. We'll see in a few years time if this has proven itself and makes me look young and glowing when I'm alredy a bit older.

'Till then, I guess there's nothing more to do than wait and follow this routine religiously...which doens't mean I might not change up some products just basically that I'm going to continue on taking care of my skin.

Karen's and my philosophy: Cleanse- Exfoliate- Moisturise- Protect.

Stay gorgeous,

Love, Zoe      xx

Shopping for MUN

Hello everyone,

This week Karen and I are off to Istanbul for a Model United Nations Conference. Basically what we do is we immitate a UN conference and learn all the procedures of it. So it's really fun, but we have to dress very formal and there is a dress code that tells you exactly what you are allowed to wear. We don't own that many formal and businesslike clothes, as we are only students, so we went out shopping yesterday.

NOTW: Essie: Thigh High

Hello everyone,

Happy Monday! I hope you had a great start in the week. You might not be able to remember me, because of my long absence from this blog. I am really truly sorry for that, but I promise I’ll be blogging more regularly in the next weeks. Today is just a quick NOTW, but there are other blogposts already written and ready to upload.

Today I am wearing Essie’s “thigh high” to get me into the Christmas mood. I can’t believe it’s nearly December already. Have you started thinking about Christmas presents? I know I have. There’s a Christmas wishlist coming up in these few weeks, so stay tuned! Maybe you’ll find the perfect gift for someone…

Love, Karen

xx

Remeber when I did a Mac So Chaud Lipstick Review? And I also talked about Mac's Russian Red Lipstick? Well I went out and bought it...

Where have we been??

Hey guys,

I'm so sorry we haven't been posting lately. School's been really busy and although we love writing for you, sometimes school has to be set in the foreground. Plus I don't think it's fair to bring you crappy posts, written in a hurry without any effort. I'd much rather take the time to put a lot of love into my posts, to make them enjoyable for you to read. :)
Also, by the time Karen and I get home from school most days and finished our homework and studying, it is usually already dark outside, thus not possible to make good quality pictures for our posts, which is really sad, because we want the pictures to be as true to life as possible and taken in natural daylight.
We promise to bring you exciting posts in the next couple of days e.g. Mac Russian Red Lipstick Review! and hope you don't mind our recent absence.

Stay tuned for the upcoming..

Love, Zoe     xx

NOTW: Essie, Better Together

Hello everyone,
So it seems like the odds are not in Karen's favour right now....trying hard to be funny by quoting The Hunger Games...Not!
So her computer crashed and it seems like you'll have to be satisfied with another NOTW from me this week! :)

Anyways this week I felt like a more softer colour, after the dark red from last week.

NOTW: Manhattan, 45Q

Well hello there,

Karen is on holiday so I decided to stand in for her and do the nail of the week instead. As I didn't paint my nails last week it is about time I get my fall colour out. The polish I'm wearing this week is this one.

How to look after yourself in stressful situations

I’m probably not the only one out there. And I’m sure each and every one of you has experienced something similar already. But right now, school is stress. We have at least 2 tests coming up every week, not to mention the massive amount of homework you have to do. Because all of the teachers are so convinced that there is no subject more important than theirs. As you probably know, this is the time where you don’t take the time to paint your nails that often, when you don’t go and pamper yourself, basically, when you don’t look at your best. And that’s ok. But it doesn’t feel very nice going to school/university with unwashed hair or in the sloppiest jumper or with your face literally covered in spots. So here are a few tips and tricks that work for me to keep me looking acceptable during the stress-y periods.

NOTW: Chanel June

Hi there,

It's been quite a while ago since I posted my last blogpost. This one is only going to be a quick one, as it's that timeof the semester where everything goes crazy and you have all of the exams and everything lining up.

The shade I'm wearing in this picture is June by Chanel. I got this as a birhday present from one of my dearest friends, and I was really happy about it. At first I was a little unsure about the colour, but now I really like it. It's a nude peach (if that even exists), and it goes well with everything, particularly blue. It also looks really good if you have a tan on.

I will leave you now (got some more studying to do), but my next post will soon be up. It's about how to take care of yourself in a stressfull situation like mine right now:)

Love, xx

Review: Mac Lipstick "So Chaud"

Hey,

Although it’s I’m actually really busy this weekend, revising and studying for upcoming tests this week, I am going to take the time, to write you a little review, on my Mac So Chaud lipstick.

Currently this is the only red-ish lipstick I own. I’m saying “red-ish”, because really it’s more of an orangey red. This lipstick was my first ever purchase from Mac, which is only about a year and three months ago, so it isn’t all that old.

My jewelry collection and organization + favorite pieces

Hello everyone,

Today I decided on showing you my jewelry collection/storage and my favorite pieces.
During my summer break I vamped up my room which also included my whole beauty storages. So while I was on vacation in France I picked up a lovely jewelry stand to hold studs and dangly earrings, as well as necklaces and bracelets. I love, how my jewelry is now organized and open.

My nailpolish collection

I recently revamped my nail polish collection. Before, I had all my nail polishes in a box, which wasn’t so great because that way, I couldn’t see the actual colours, only the tops of the bottles. I saw this idea on line and totally loved it.

NOTW: Catrice; From Dusk to Dawn

Hey everybody!

So fall has finally decided to arrive now, which made me excited to get out my beautiful taupe shade.

The "What to Buy" list/plan

As you might already know, we are students of a limited budget. Meaning although we might splurge on some products (Like the Estee Lauder lipstick), after having saved up enough money, we do not have a huge amount of money each month. Which, for sure, doesn’t mean that we don’t crave for all those pretty and oh so raved about makeup and skincare products.

Review: Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate, Intensity One

I promised to write you a review, as soon as I was able to say more about the product than just “Woah Tom Ford!”… So here it is.

The Parcel arrived Saturday and I wanted to unpack it immediately...But Karen and I decided to unpack our Contour kits together so we had to meet up which left me waiting for an hour or so, staring at this parcel actually wanting to do homework, well not wanting to, but you know.
Yes I know stupid things girls do! :D

The Sacred List

The sacred list is something Zoe and I developed after having watched various „what’s in my bag“ videos, and which we are still experimenting with. It basically is a list of what we thought was necessary to survive your everyday life...

NOTW: Catrice; Cotton Candy and the Eiffel Tower

Happy October everyone!

I hope you are having a wonderful autumn.

Today I was thinking about which colour to paint my nails for this week, but as I didn’t have a lot of time I just decided to go with a simple, fuss-free nude colour, that would go with everything.

3 coates for an opaque result

Review: Cath Kidston Foldaway Holiday Bag + What’s in my bag

For at least the last three years I’ve been desperately looking for a bag that would fit all the stuff I need for school…And I mean EVERYTHING, not like the bag is an A4 format and fits two books and my pencil case and that was it. I made this mistake several times, buying an A4 format bag, only to find out it is too small.

Review: Estee Lauder Black Cassis Lipstick

I have been contemplating forever whether or not to get the Tom Ford Lipstick in the colour Black Orchid. I really really loved the colour, but it was extremely expensive for a lipstick (at least for my budget). So whilst I was out shopping a few weeks ago I walked past an Estee Lauder counter and one Lipstick immediately caught my eye.

NOTW: Butter London, Henley Regatta

This week I picked this lovely polish to paint my nails. It is called "Henley Regatta" and it's by Butter London. :)

Tom Ford my love...

After debating wether or not I need the oh so popular Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate Duo, I realized my mind was already so set on it, I had no choice but to get it. It had won me over; at the latest when Makeup Artist and Genius Lisa Eldridge started raving about it.

A beauty blog it shall be..

So, I thought about starting youtube or a beauty blog for some time now. But youtube wasn't the right thing, I felt, as being a student is kind of time consuming.
